Joel. G. Fletcher, MD is an abdominal radiologist and Professor of Radiology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, where he is the Medical Director of Mayo’s CT Clinical Innovation Center. His research interests include the optimization of CT image acquisition and reconstruction using human observer performance studies and model observers, radiation dose reduction methods that preserve diagnostic performance, AI methods to reduce image noise, and dual- and multi-energy studies. He is known for interdisciplinary collaborations in GI imaging, particularly the development and validation of radiologic methods for diagnosis and staging of Crohn’s disease and the use of these methods to guide clinical management. Dr. Fletcher earned his BS in Chemistry at the University of Tennessee and his MD from Harvard Medical School. He completed his radiology residency at the University of Iowa and a fellowship in Gastrointestinal Radiology and Abdominal Imaging at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Fletcher currently serves as the President-elect of the Society of Abdominal Radiology, is the author of over 300 peer-reviewed publications, and a Fellow of the Society of Abdominal Radiology.
